I would like to thank the Observer-Reporter, the Wilfred R. Cameron Wellness Center, trainer Kendra Boni and my teammates on the Observer-Reporter team for making the “Biggest Winner” contest at the Wellness Center such an enjoyable experience.
Our team was united in the effort and we encouraged one another during our workouts. We lost a combined 100 pounds.
Initially, I was very skeptical and anxious about how well I would do, since I am 72 years-old. With the help our trainer, Kendra Boni, and my teammates’ encouragement, things went rather well. At times, I had difficulty keeping up with the others, but I persevered.
One of my goals was encouraging other senior citizens to realize that, with desire and determination, all things are possible. I lost 20 pounds, or 9.7 percent of my body weight. My goal was to lose between 20 and 25 pounds.
Not only were we coached on our physical activities, we were coached by Jackie Ely, a nutritionist, on the importance of improving our diet. I can attest to the success of this, because at my last doctor’s visit, I was told I no longer needed my blood pressure or cholesterol medications.
I am now a member of the Cameron Wellness Center, and plan to continue exercising and following my improved diet.
Through desire and determination, you can improve your health and longevity.
