I do not support the strike by Peters Township teachers. These teachers are on the higher end of wages for the area. The get every holiday off, every weekend off, and summers off. They have one of the best benefit packages around, and they want more? I don’t get it.

Most of us in the work force would give anything for the benefits they have. One visit to my doctor costs me hundreds in out-of-pocket and deductible costs. I cannot afford to go to the doctor, and I am a health care worker.

They have cancelled classes in Peters Township but are still allowing sports activities. This tells me they put more importance on sports than academics. This is sad. Everybody’s health insurance costs are increasing thanks to Obamacare, and the teachers need to absorb it like the rest of us. Why should they feel the need to be privileged and demand more than what most of us have? They need to get back into the classroom and do what they are being paid – attractively – for.
