Let Trinity play baseball for free

The Trinity varsity baseball team should be playing at Consol Energy Park for free. At the very most they should only be charged a stipend for maintenance.

When the original agreement was set up with the Washington Wild Things when I was a North Franklin Township supervisor, this was the case. How this got so out of control I have no idea.

There are several entities to blame in this matter. First, for the Trinity School District to be paying $65,000 for 14 home games to Consol Energy Park is an absolute disgrace. It is a waste of taxpayer money and it is unbelievable that they paid it in the first place. It is no wonder our taxes keep going up.

Secondly, Washington & Jefferson College is not being a good neighbor. They could certainly allow Trinity to play on their field, which is adjacent to the Wild Things field. We were a good community neighbor when we let W&J build on the site in the first place.

Thirdly, Consol, the Wild Things and Trinity need to work this matter out. There is no feasible explanation for Trinity being charged that amount of money on a field built for the community where the home team and its residents reside.
