Clinton has been there for us
After watching the Democratic National Convention for four straight nights, I was shocked to learn that there was so much information that I was not aware of about Hillary Clinton.
She has helped the Children’s Defense Fund, assisted 9/11 first responders and even negotiated a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas. Everyone already knows that she is an activist for women everywhere.
But what really impacted me was what Clinton did in the early 1990s, going door-to-door to help children with disabilities receive a worthwhile education. This is an important accomplishment, because without her standing up for children with disabilities, they would have not received the education that they needed to thrive in our country. As a person with disabilities and autism, I know it was difficult and frustrating for my parents to manage my education. But luckily, there were resources for me and for others. I was fitted into the right school, the right classrooms, and the right teachers who were willing to work with me and my disabilities. When I entered college, the university helped set up accommodations, classes and the professors I needed to go the distance. After that, I graduated with high honors and a degree in creative writing.
I know that Clinton has made some mistakes. But nobody is perfect. People do make mistakes. Clinton is going to be there for us. She was always there for us. We just did not know it at the time.
