Give Stout credit for police facility
I read the article that was recently published concerning the dedication ceremony for the new Pennsylvania State Police Troop B Headquarters facility. I am compelled to write this letter to you to ensure that recognition for the construction of this facility is also given to the late Pennsylvania State Sen. J. Barry Stout.
I served as the commanding officer of Troop B in Washington from January 2008 until my retirement from the department in July 2011. During that time, I carried on the efforts that had been undertaken by a number of my predecessors to secure the substantial amount of funding needed for the construction of a new headquarters. Stout was a strong supporter of this project, and wanted to ensure that the men and women of Troop B would have a modern facility in which to better serve the citizens of Washington County. Because of his leadership and his diligent efforts, the necessary legislative actions were ultimately taken to have the funding for this project approved.
It is ironic that Stout died only days before this new facility was officially dedicated. However, the construction of this facility should always be remembered among his many admirable accomplishments as a member of the Pennsylvania State Senate.
