Too many municipalities
It is time for Pennsylvania (and Washington County) to advance from the horse-and-buggy era when governmental units were established because of severe restrictions in travel capabilities. Washington County has 66 municipalities trying to deliver services to their residents. This form of government is wasteful and inefficient.
To eliminate waste and improve efficiency, only county and city governmental units should exist. In theory, residents outside a city would have equal opportunity to county services. Centralized county staffs could effectively provide services at a reduced cost to taxpayers by eliminating the staffs of most of these municipalities.
