Outdoors columnist George Block recently wrote a column in the Observer-Reporter about the value of wetlands, and how they can clean our water. There is a great example of this at the Wingfield Pines Conservation Area, located in Upper St. Clair and South Fayette townships in Allegheny County. It has a series of about seven wetland lakes. This is one of the best local places to observe birds.
