Safety features will reduce accidents

It is inevitable. Our reactions get slower as we age. Younger drivers often feel irked if the driver in front of them is not going at least 10 miles over the speed limit. I drive a SUV and often a car is so close to my tall SUV, I cannot see it. Each year I read of a number of accidents involving seniors who hit the gas instead of the brakes or simply did not react in time to stop. Rear-end collisions and slow reaction time may be more prevalent with seniors, but not exclusively. Drugs add to the impairment factor.

Fortunately, there are number of vehicle safety features available in the newer vehicles, such as automatic braking, blind-side warning and collision warning. Making advanced safety features mandatory in the future will reduce accidents for drivers of all ages.
