Democrats played the same game
I read with interest your Feb. 16 editorial, “The Senate Shouldn’t Delay Replacing Scalia.”
What you did not mention was that in 2007, Sen. Charles Schumer, a Democrat from New York, called for blocking all of President George W. Bush’s Supreme Court nominees 18 months before he left office. And, in 2006, Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois supported the unsuccessful filibuster of Bush’s nomination of Samuel Alito.
Perhaps you could explain what is so different about Republican senators vowing to block President Obama’s nominations a mere 11 months before he leaves office.
