Polka on a cruise ship

Thank you for the wonderful article on polka music that appeared in the May 29 edition of the newspaper. The polka is the only dance that I have any (somewhat diminished) ability to perform.

While on an extended cruise, a four-piece band would provide dance music, such as sambas, rumbas, mambos and waltzes, for 30 minutes prior to the main show. Out of more than 300 passengers in the theater, the largest number of passengers dancing was 24. It was repetitive night after night.

One afternoon, I asked the musicians if they could play some Pink Floyd or even a polka. I was informed that corporate headquarters in California would not allow such activity.

I wonder if Polka Floyd out of Toledo, Ohio performs on a cruise ship?
