Let’s gain control of gun process
As the discussion goes on and on after another shooting rampage, we need to take a deep breath, step back, and look at this problem in a much wider perspective.
There have been 10 massacres since President Obama was elected to office, in schools, churches and other locations. Places where people gather are not safe anymore. The lame, do-nothing politicians say and do whatever it takes to secure their jobs by either being politically correct or just by taking the cowardly road and being silent.
All these massacres have one thing in common, and it’s the ability of the shooters to acquire military-style assault weapons. The ability of people to access these weapons and use them to kill innocent people in a free society speaks volumes about a failed government. We need to flush all the empty-headed politicians out of Congress and start anew.
It’s time for the United States to stand up and demand term limits be placed on members of Congress so special-interest groups cannot exert power and spend money to influence the decision-making process. We all know a lot of money changes hands behind closed doors in Washington, D.C. It’s quite obvious when you see a politician being smug and coy when responding to questions concerning the safety of the American public. They play the blame game for only one reason – because they cannot and will not take responsibility and be held accountable.
This isn’t about the petty and stupid argument that the government is going to take your guns. That kind of stupidity just doesn’t work anymore. You can’t kill 49 people with a knife or a pistol or a gun you use for hunting. Massacres require assault weapons.
This has become a power struggle between politicians who clearly are leaving out the American public and gaining control of an already dysfunctional process.
