Let’s not build walls
America is a great country already, it’s just going through some growing pains. It is still a melting pot. People from around the world came here for freedom and the rights that come with it.
I am forever grateful to my grandparents who sailed bravely from Czechoslovakia. All that they went through on their journey and the years after has brought me my freedom and rights.
Not every person who migrates to the United States is a terrorist, drug lord or rapist. They are looking for a better life, just like my grandparents.
Let’s not build walls or ban people based on their race or religion. Maybe we should just follow the golden rule: Treat others as you wish to be treated. And the second rule: If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.
We should have learned these in kindergarten or first grade. I wish that our politicians would remember what they might have learned long ago.
