Trump campaign dominated by hyperbole

In Jennifer Sams’ Oct, 26 letter, “Still voting for Trump,” she states that Donald Trump “has managed to reveal more of the scandalous inner workings of the American presidential election process than any politician has ever been able to.” Other letters have stated that a vote for Hillary Clinton would be a vote to “sacrifice all of our freedoms” and that the Democratic Party is committed to “making all of us dependent on government.”

If anyone believes that Trump would make a better president than Hillary Clinton, I urge that person to get up early next Tuesday, head to the polls and cast a ballot for him. But saying that Democrats want to take away our freedoms and make us dependent on government are not the products of a thoughtful mind but an angry gut – much of that anger justified, much of it irrational and much of it not even understood.

President Obama was supposed to take all of our guns, now Clinton will. What do Democrats have to gain by making us all dependent on government? When you see statements like these, the partisan divide in America is easy to understand. How can anyone compromise or even have a reasonable discussion with someone who makes astounding statements (bordering on the ridiculous) with absolutely no proof, yet made with the certainty that one plus one equals two?

Sams is sure of the scandalous election process based on nothing but speculation, yet when there is documented proof of Trump boasting about his behavior with women, and 11 of them verify that he’s being truthful, Sams ponders whether the stories are “real or fabricated.”

Trump’s campaign has been dominated by mostly false statements – 71 percent, according to Politifact – and hyperbole, so it’s really no surprise when his followers (as opposed to supporters) follow suit.
