Trump would take us backward

After reading Ralph Stone’s letter in the Saturday edition of the Observer-Reporter expressing support for Donald Trump, I feel compelled to respond.

Stone said he would vote for Trump because Trump will abide by constitutional law and the Judeo-Christian values we cherish. What a joke. I’m convinced Trump has never read the Constitution, and if he has, he’s forgotten what it says. Do the Judeo-Christian values Stone cherishes include the ones that prohibit, among others, adultery, theft and dishonesty? Trump has been accused of all these. Would Stone ban all Muslims from entering the United States to protect his Christian values?

Stone talks about liberals being a danger to the Constitution, but I would remind him that liberal philosophies helped abolish slavery, granted the right to vote to women, gave rise to organized labor, put women in charge of their own bodies and a host of other advances that helped make the United States a great nation. Trump and his “deplorables” would take us backward, not forward.
