Our youth will mimic Trump

Recently, a 12 year-old boy I know, who likes to tease me about Donald Trump winning the election, said that an older boy he knows has a black girlfriend and someone said he should dump her and she should go “back to the cotton fields.”

The boy thought this was funny.

It saddens me that discrimination will now be encouraged and bullying will become acceptable. Because many of the people in Washington County voted for a loudmouthed, classless, ill-equipped liar to lead our country, his ways and mannerisms will be copied by our youth.

I fear for the mistreatment of women, minorities and animals. All the strides that human and animal rights have taken over the last eight years will be lost in a sea of ugly prejudice and hate and it comes right out of a child’s mouth. The results of this election will take us back to the days of the Civil War, when people were still enslaved. The American people have chosen a con man who tells his voters exactly what they want to hear with nothing to back it up. How people could be so brainwashed is beyond the realm of reason, and yet it happened in what is supposed to be the greatest country in the world.

Are we Democrats crying because we lost the election? Of course we are. We are crying because this country, if not the world, has lost hope for a bright future where hate and prejudice will be a thing of the past and where the planet will begin to rebound from the beating it has taken from mankind.

And, of course, we cry for those too blind not to see it.
