No choice but Trump
Like many others, I am distressed by the options we have in this presidential election. The problems with Donald Trump are glaringly obvious. However, I must vote for Trump because I cannot vote for Hillary Clinton.
I am not voting for Trump’s insensitivity, his rascist remarks, or his extreme offensiveness towards many groups of people. I am voting for Trump because of two issues which to me are of utmost importance: religious freedom and opposition to abortion.
There are serious threats to religious liberty in America today. Hillary Clinton has stated that “deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.” Her staff has expressed appalling anti-Catholic beliefs. She supports the Health and Human Services mandate that is trying to force religious groups to violate their consciences and opposes the Conscience Protection Act.
Clinton supports expanding access to abortion. There are 1 million babies killed by abortion each year in the United States. Clinton believes that a child hours away from birth has no constitutional rights and can be killed if the mother chooses. She wants to force us to spend our tax dollars for abortion. She has promised to appoint Supreme Court justices who will support Roe vs. Wade.
Trump has promised to appoint pro-life Supreme Court justices who will uphold the Constitution, including our First Amendment rights. The next president will most likely appoint multiple Supreme Court justices, and that will determine the course of our country for many years. Trump has promised to “protect the rights of Catholics to live their faith, to serve their communities, and to act on their beliefs without fear.”
I see no choice but to vote for Trump and to hope that the American people will rebound from this disheartening situation and demand better leaders in the future.
