Disgusted by tax increase
Having received my school taxes for the 2017 tax year, I was appalled to see that my taxes increased by $752, a 49 percent increase over my 2016 taxes.
It was my understanding that the new appraisal would not bring a windfall to local school districts. My neighbor informed me that their taxes increased threefold. If this does not constitute a windfall, I would like someone to dispute this.
Anybody who wants to dispute their new tax bill should confront the Trinity School Board to show their disbelief and displeasure with this outrageous tax increase.
The Trinity School Board notified the Observer-Reporter that a $100,000 home would receive an increase of approximately $100. I do not have a $200,000 home, so it seems out of line that I should receive a $752 increase in my tax bill.
It is definitely time for a taxpayer revolt.
