An all-out assault on the environment
These days it seems that only Democrats talk about protecting the environment. When I think of conservation, I think of President Theodore Roosevelt, a Republican, who established the U.S. Forest Service. And, say what you will about him, but President Richard Nixon created the Environmental Protection Agency with an executive order, and appointed fellow Republican William Ruckelshaus to run it. In the 1980s, President Ronald Reagan restored the EPA by bringing Ruckelshaus back.
But now President Trump is attempting to slash the budget of the EPA by 31 percent, more than any other federal agency. And with longtime EPA critic Scott Pruitt at the helm, we are seeing an all-out assault on the environment and the laws that protect it.
Am I the only Republican who is concerned about this?
