LETTER A flat tax is needed
The tax bill approved by Republicans in Congress is a good start. But it still needs to be improved upon.
Everyone needs to be paying taxes, from the richest of the rich to the poorest of the poor — a flat percentage taken out of every person’s entire income, from all sources. It would include wages, interest, investments, money received in an inheritance and, yes, even welfare payments.
Let’s make it a flat 10 percent collected from everyone, and I do mean everyone, including businesses and corporations. With over 324 million people in this country, all paying that 10 percent of all their yearly income from all sources, the amount of money coming into the government might be too much for even the government to spend, while at the same time leaving the people and businesses with more or their own money.
