What are they drinking?
Some changes to Pennsylvania liquor laws have received praise prematurely. Many reflect selfish, shallow and shortsighted logic certain to adversely affect communities statewide.
Canonsburg is a prime example. The liquor store, located in the middle of town, is slated to be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Increased easy access to alcohol will surely add to public drunkeness, arrests for disorderly conduct and driving under the influence and purchases made by minors. All of these are detrimental to such events as Canonsburg’s Fourth of July parade.
Local police, already stressed, will experience more pressure-packed workdays.
How are changes to liquor laws in the public interest? In other words, what in the world were they drinking when the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board produced this thinking?
