Travel ban is not unconstitutional
I cannot understand the hysteria regarding President Trump’s 90-day ban on immigrants from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen.
He has every right to take such action under Section 212 (f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act titled “Suspension of Entry or Imposition of Restrictions by the President.” The first sentence of this states, “Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such a period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of all aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.”
This ban was enacted to give us time to establish a way to vet all of these people to prevent anyone who has ties to radical Islam and wants to do harm to the citizens of this country from entering. Why would anyone have a problem with this?
I’ve been hearing the protesters and liberal talking heads saying that this is “unconstitutional.” This is ridiculous, since the Constitution only applies to citizens and legal aliens. No one has a “right” to come to the United States. We are a sovereign nation and are not required to allow anyone into this country. I dare say that there is no country on earth who is required to receive immigrants. It is done for humanitarian reasons.
It’s the president’s job to keep Americans safe and that is exactly what Trump is trying to do. Let’s give him a chance.
