Americans have a right to protest
I read with much sadness a letter to the editor from Jim Campbell, a retired Marine, in the Feb. 19 edition. He said he is sickened by anti-Trump protesters.
First, Campbell should be thanked for his service, a service that has helped provide all Americans the right to express our views in many ways, protest being only one.
The anti-Trump protesters also watch in sheer horror and sickness as a pathological liar tries to destroy our democracy and our planet. President Trump is unfit and unqualified to lead this great nation.
The protestors are not idiots but feel deeply for the suffering of others. That is one reason they are protesting.
The men and women of our armed services are heroes and deserve praise for helping keep America safe. However, with Trump at the helm of our ship, he will put these brave young men and women in harm’s way if we don’t try and stop his policies by protesting or by asking our senators and congressional representatives to vote against the hate Trump is creating.
Because I love America, I will never support a patholigical liar and I will forever support the freedom to protest.
