Town hall meeting was civil, constructive

I am writing in response to the Wednesday article, “Lawmaker: No invite to town hall meeting,” by Brad Hundt.

Regarding his reluctance to meet with and listen to his constituents, U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy believes the events “have been marred by sound and fury rather than a constructive dialogue.” I was at the town hall in Washington last week and can assure the congressman that the dialogue was constructive and civil. He should hold town hall meetings to hear the people who elected him, who have given him the privilege to represent them, and who are the source of power in a democracy.

It is discreditable that Republicans have voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act since its inception and now that they can do something, they have no plan at all.

Health care coverage in the world’s richest country should be a right. The Affordable Care Act was a great first step in that direction. Improve it to that end, or leave it alone.
