Don’t sell the health center
I urge the Washington County commissioners not to sell the Washington County Health Center (WCHC) to a private company.
We elected all three commissioners to lead. Selling WCHC to a private company would find the commissioners following in the non-innovative footsteps of what others have done.
The reimbursement rate per person is the same whether WCHC is run by Washington County or privately run. What else can a private company do that is not being done now, except cut services to WCHC residents, provide a lower quality of care, pay staff lower wages, serve inferior food, turn people away, have a higher resident-to-staff ratio and forgo maintenance and cleaning, among other things?
In selling WCHC, the commissioners won’t be delivering on their campaign promises of responsible and innovative leadership to voters. I urge the commissioners to reconsider selling WCHC.
