Obama was a dreadful president
I would like to comment on a letter by the Rev. Joseph Lewandowski that appeared in the Jan. 18 edition. Lewandowski stated that he, along with his friends, are willing to hold onto their skewed Democratic views during the Trump administration, vowing that, as he puts it, “We shall overcome.”
To that I say, if he has survived during the eight dreadful years of the Obama administration, he has overcome.
He has overcome years where the Democrats put our valiant country in the hands of someone who was nothing more than a community organizer. Barack Obama was responsible for blunder after blunder, in addition to the decay of our country and our diminished standing on the world stage.
And although Obama was lacking in credentials, the one huge asset he had was that nearly 100 percent of the left-leaning news media was behind him. The media overlooked or downplayed many of his failures and deficiencies.
In Lewandowski’s letter, he also brought up the assertion by Congressman John Lewis that Donald Trump was not a legitimate president. Yes, Lewis deserves to be revered as a civil rights leader, but it was Lewis who started the conflict. His past does not excuse negative comments he makes now, nor does it exempt him from any rebuttal from those whom he chooses to attack. And I believe that Lewis could have more of a positive impact on today’s youth by demonstrating that, when things don’t go your way, you suck it up, maintain your composure, and fulfill your obligations to the people you represent, and that means attending the inauguration of a president.
Our country today is more divided on all issues than when Obama became president in 2009. Of course, the left-leaning news media will never report that, but anyone in the general public can recognize it.
President Trump won the election of 2016 fair and square. He is smart, a seasoned businessman, a tireless worker, and is truly interested in protecting the common people and workers.
