Trump’s accomplishments are few

This letter is in response to David Ball’s commentary on the successes of the Trump administration that was published July 9, and to other fantasies he has offered previously.

President Trump and the GOP have not passed a major piece of legislation yet. They are trying to kill the Affordable Care Act, which was originally a conservative idea and President Obama adopted it. All of the sudden, it was a horrible idea. I figure the main problem is it was signed and took on the name of our first black president, Barack Obama.

Trump’s only accomplishments have been through executive orders, and I could have sworn Republicans did not like executive orders.

As for the Dow Jones, yes it has gone up since Trump became president, thanks to the groundwork laid by President Obama. If you remember, the Dow dropped from over 11,000 to 7,000 during the tenure of George Bush. Obama brought it back to over 18,000. Of course, I do not think any president can take full responsibility for the stock market, but let’s see where it is in 2020.

I did agree with Trump’s campaign rhetoric on trade issues, but he already has backed down on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), and has also backed off China about their currency manipulation. He also pulled America out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which was not final yet.

Ball stated that Trump’s accomplishments were good or bad, depending on your perspective. Well, from my perspective, Trump is lucky to have a cheerleader like Ball.
