Trail a great county asset
I recently read an article about Washington County Commissioner Harlan Shober voting no on paving the western section on the Panhandle Trail. I was disappointed with his decision, for there are 10 miles currently paved from Burgettstown to McDonald that trail-users have been utilizing. This section was paved last summer and has greatly increased use of the trail in this area during the past year.
The unpaved section from Francis Mine to the state line is appoximately 7 miles, and by paving it, it would nicely complete the already established trail. Commisioners Larry Maggi and Diana Irey Vaughan deserve thanks for their approval on this project.
As summer quickly approaches, I recommend anyone who enjoys the outdoors visit the Panhandle Trail. It’s a great asset to Washington County.
