Fire company had no knowledge of auction items

In light of the recent controversy over items to be auctioned by auctioneer Randy Shook at the Taylorstown Volunteer Fire Company, we feel the need to make it clear to the public that the fire department had no knowledge of the Ku Klux Klan memorabilia that was due to be auctioned prior to the advertisement that appeared in the Observer-Reporter.

Furthermore, had the fire department had any knowledge of the nature of the items, the auction would have been prohibited by our officers. The fire department in no way condones the trafficking or possession of such goods on our premises. Our fire station is available to rent by the public for private events, charity events, or business events, such as auctions, which helps defray the costs of operating a fire station.

Taylorstown Volunteer Fire Company regrets any uncomfortable or ill feelings in connection to the rental of our fire hall by a private business and any implied connection to such goods.
