Slow down

I had the opportunity Monday afternoon to help a young woman and her dog near Columbia Drive on Route 980 in Canonsburg. The dog escaped her yard and was hit by a car in front of the house. Sadly, the dog died en route to the hospital.

I have seen too many cars zipping along this stretch. Know what? It’s residential area, and there are houses with real people living real lives along this road. There is a school on it, and a ball field near by. It is not a speedway to get from a nice house on the hill to Route 79.

I’m so sorry I was unable to get this dog to the veterinarian in time, and I am heartbroken for the brave young woman who had to pull her friend off the road while no one else stopped.

Slow down. You never know what is around the bend.
