Nothing more than a smokescreen

If President Trump is so passionate about honoring and protecting our flag, he had thousands of opportunities to do so during his campaign.

Within the United States Code is Section 36, U.S.C. 173-178, the “flag code.” This section of the code specifically outlines the use and misuse of our American flag.

One specific violation is the use of anything intended to resemble the flag as a part of clothing, which I am sure Trump saw at every rally and appearance staged by his campaign. These items are disrespectful to the flag and a violation of the code.

The flag should never be carried horizontally or flat, another violation. But our so-called leader, to my knowledge, has not objected to these infractions.

I can only conclude that this recent dust-up has nothing to do with the flag; more likely, it is a smokescreen to distract us from the realities of this sorry administration.
