A disgraceful display

As six-time Super Bowl champions, I thought the Pittsburgh Steelers would be better role models than what we saw Sept. 24 at Soldier Field in Chicago.

What made this lack of respect for all the veterans who fought and died for our country and the families left to watch this disgraceful display was to hear Alejandro Villanueva guilted into apologizing to Coach Mike Tomlin, his teammates and fans for his actions. He showed more respect and courage for country and flag than the whole team put together.

Our flag and national anthem don’t represent any one group of people, but what America stands for – our opportunities, our values, our freedoms, our way of life. If this is what the Steelers were protesting, they need to play football in another country.
