It’s about faith, not bricks and mortar

I’m writing about the recent article concerning the closing of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Monongahela, and the fact that some parishioners have filed suit to keep it open. This makes me embarrassed to be Catholic.
The St. Anthony building is bricks and mortar. Do its members really need a structure in order to keep their fond memories? They should pause and try to reconnect with the meaning of religious faith.
There are several churches that have closed in the Mon Valley. Instead of letting them rot, they could be repurposed into something useful to the community. The names of all the churches should stay with the structure, along with a brief history.
