New hiking trail is welcome

An announcement was made during the most recent West Bethlehem Township meeting that will brighten the Marianna community and bring joy to the residents – a new hiking trail is being added to West Bethlehem Township.
The entrance is planned to be on Washington Street, with paths winding and weaving their way to the top of a hill, where a breathtakingly scenic view awaits. This is the first step in breathing new life and change into our town.
The new trail will bring outdoor enthusiasts to our area. It may even inspire locals to try hiking in order to view their homes from atop the hill with new eyes. It will be a safe area to introduce familes to the wonders of the outdoors.
So many possibilities exist along the trail. There could be historical markers illuminating people and events long past; species identification boards to introduce the basic types of trees and wildlife to visitors; and schools could send students there on field trips.
The hiking trail is the first bridge in revitalizing the community. Eventually, the trail could be extended or new features could be added, such as a fenced-in area for dogs or easier-to-travel paths for those unable to hike.
The trail is a great investment in our youth and our future. We just have to show that we can unite and achieve great things together. The West Bethlehem supervisors started this project, but they don’t have to be the only ones involved. Volunteers help make things work and grow, and demonstrate a commitment to the community for the betterment of everyone.
