Saccone embarrassed no one

If one stands all day in the cold, is it embarrassing?

I admit it seemed in vain with only two familiar names for ballot choices in this special election that I would stand in the cold longer than ever. But I would not do this for just any candidate. After 30 years of Party work, I was thrilled to back Rick Saccone. He has integrity, and earnestly loves and serves America.

It didn’t seem like Guy Reschenthaler, who kindly conceded a loss during the conferee process, to talk so unexpectedly rude about Saccone a few days ago, saying he “embarrassed everyone in southwestern Pennsylvania.” Why? Would he say Marco Rubio, his favorite, was embarrassing, losing in 2016?

Saccone served in Iraq, protected Mosul, faced Congress and stood his ground in Pennsylvania as representative, not voting for that budget increase in this overspent state. It was easy to promote this St. Vincent College professor who taught counterintelligence. With 18 years of military service, he trained up his sons that they, too, served in the U.S. Air Force. Speaking to the smallest of groups, he has humbly instilled a love of Pennsylvania’s godly heritage. All respectable, not embarrassing or shameful.

Those whom I introduced to Saccone quickly caught on why President Trump called him a “spectacular” candidate. It’s easy to see why Dave Ball wrote in this newspaper that Saccone would serve the area well. It’s a plus that Saccone isn’t controlled by ad agencies and millionaire donors, and he is not taking a state pension.

So for Guy to mock “embarrassing to all southwestern Pennsylvania” about our local patriot makes no sense. It’s political advertising, Guy talk. To say “embarrassing” about a loss needing 400 of his opponent’s votes when 102,200 from Allegheny County voted does not compute.

May Westmoreland stand again, and Washington and Greene counties continue their counties’ choice, Saccone, on May 15. And may Fayette also stand for Rick.
