Thanks for the no-littering signs

Thank you, state Department of Transportation, for the “No Littering/$300 Fine” signs put up along Route 481. My initial letter to the editor about the problem was published Feb. 26, and five signs were put up April 11.

I know Pennsylvania does not permit prisoners to pick up trash, but perhaps that is something that could be changed.

Now the real job begins: convincing others not to litter. Litter creates an eyesore and suggests that people do not care. Let’s all make a conscious effort to quit littering. And to those who have the power to impose fines on the scofflaws – please, do so.
