LETTER: Display the American flag properly
I opened the TV Weekly and there it was again: a picture of the American flag spread horizontally across the entire outfield of a sport venue. The burr under my saddle is the disregard of the portion of the U.S. Code that states, “The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free.” In subsection 8 of the flag code there are several other common misuses cited. At a time when we are consumed with who sits, who kneels, who waits outside, perhaps we should educate ourselves by reading up on Title 4 and Title 36 of the U.S. Code. It is not patriotic if we don’t do it correctly.
