LETTER A parade will not help our veterans
The idea of tanks and other military weapons rolling down the streets of our beautiful capital sends a shudder through me.
We have all seen video clips of military parades from Korea, China and Russia, countries that have forms of government very different than ours. Is this the example we want to show the world, or do we show our power by living up to the values we hold as a freedom-loving people?
The men and women in our armed forces deserve the highest respect we give them. I don’t know a single person who doesn’t share that opinion. A parade will not help our veterans with their medical issues, or the support they need in many other ways.
Let’s spend our tax dollars where help is really needed, for the men and women serving our country.
