LETTER Problems with REAL ID requirements

When I moved to Pennsylvania over 50 years ago, I had to provide a raised-seal birth certificate in the process of securing a driver’s license. That old requirement apparently fails to meet the requirements to obtain a REAL ID card, because those who have acquired licenses after August 2003 need not provide a birth certificate.

The requirement that I provide two pieces of proof of my current address presents a problem. As a renter, I have no utility bills. Because of concerns about fraud, I will not provide a bank statement. I wonder if copies of state and federal tax returns addressed to me will meet the requirement?

So, PennDOT will place all of my data on a website that would allow hackers to secure and misuse my personal data.
