LETTER A question for Trump supporters
I would like to ask a question of President Trump’s supporters: If your child came home from school, looked around, and said, “You know, this is a real (term used by Trump with reference to certain countries),” what would happen next?
If the child made a comment about his principal that Anthony Scaramucci, a Trump staff member (briefly) made about Steve Bannon, would you think it was all right? I don’t mean just the words themselves, but the underlying contempt they express. Is that sort of contempt OK with you? Would you accept being on the receiving end of it, or hearing it about someone else?
Or what about climate change being a “Chinese hoax”? Did you see what happened with the hurricanes, wildfires, floods and mudslides in California? These things are predictable byproducts of climate change. Are they a hoax? Houses, people, simply wiped out of existence?
There was also a heavy toll from tornadoes last year. I’ll bet where it happened, they grasp the reality of the situation.
For that matter, the flooding around here is getting to be pretty frequent, isn’t it?
All of this is in addition to whatever happened during the 2016 presidential election, where foreign interference occurred.
Is all this fine by you?
