LETTER Burroughs column was in poor taste

On the Jan. 14 Commentary page, I was disappointed to read Park Burroughs’ attempt to compare a Jan. 7 column by Dave Ball to fake news writers you reprint from The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Associated Press. Burroughs should suggest these real fake news writers follow the rules and practices he claims to support, not Ball.

For years, I and many other readers have begged the Observer-Reporter to publish the other side of the story. We are delighted to see you publish Ball’s well-written, factual pieces, and would enjoy even more writers covering the conservative view. David Brooks, George Will and Kathleen Parker do not represent conservatives, which the majority of your readers are, even if many of them register as Democrats but voted for President Trump.

Burroughs appears to be a liberal who still doesn’t believe Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 presidential election, and believes that the Russians helped Trump steal the election. His trashing of Ball because he supports Trump and what he is doing to improve our country was in very poor taste, and an example of a fake news writing.

Burroughs should have followed the rules and practices of good journalism he claims to support and not written such a column at all.
