LETTER Thank heavens the ‘special’ election is over
I’m glad the special election has come and gone. After months of badgering by both parties, with all the junk mail stuffed in my mailbox and the smear-tactic commercials cluttering my television, I’d reached the point where it didn’t matter who won.
The money, in the millions spent by both parties, could have cured poverty in the 18th Congressional District or been donated to worthy charities. Instead, it was wasted on an election that I feel should not have taken place in the first place.
Congressman Tim Murphy was forced out by liberal worries of indiscretions in his personal life, which had nothing to do with the job he was doing in Congress. The winner of this wasteful election will be lucky to fill his shoes in Washington. If everyone was scrutinized by their personal life, very few would be working.
