LETTER Ball was right, after all

On May 23, Bill McDonald lambasted Dave Ball in the letters to the editor for the statement in his May 20 commentary that in April, the Congressional Budget Office reported the highest surplus in federal budget history, claiming that it was false.

Predilections often lead us astray.

Ball is right, and McDonald is wrong. Just Google “CBO April surplus” and read it for yourself. The balance of collections and expenses for April was the highest surplus in history.

The only mistake Ball made was he said $190 billion, which was the next highest surplus in history. In fact, it was $218 billion, which exceeded the CBO’s estimate.

How about that!
