LETTER: LSA supports community needs
In the April 19 edition, the Observer-Reporter published an article about Rep. Bud Cook introducing legislation that appears to target Washington County’s Local Share Account (LSA).
In recent years, along with numerous other worthwhile projects, Transitional Paths to Independent Living (TRPIL) has been awarded over $1 million in LSA funding for renovations to the old YWCA building for the development of our new, modern, accessible headquarters and community center.
TRPIL supports the current LSA process and its award procedures. The ability to support projects of local importance and value has been vital for rejuvenating Washington County. While the property tax relief concept that Cook offers has some merit, these LSA funds support multiple community needs, as noted in that article: “economic development, infrastructure, job training, and community improvement.”
All these things working together with the LSA improve our county.
