LETTER: Biden spot on about our government

Former Vice President Joe Biden made a clear statement in his Pittsburgh speech: Our government is broken.

It’s comforting to hear someone voice our thoughts about how we the older people feel about the rotting stench of politicians from the swamp in D.C. The only puzzling part of Biden’s speech is his focus on taking down the current president.

President Trump may not be the ideal leader for us, but he has brought to light how the politicians in this country have brought us to this third-world mentality. We have witnessed too many massacres over the last decade to ignore. Why? Because the gun lobbyists have afforded the swamp creatures money and gifts to keep their greedy guts full and their big mouths shut. The only reason nothing gets done in D.C. is because we rely on politicians to do the work of leaders, and that’s impossible.

The proof is we haven’t seen anything done by Congress in the last two years. Taxpayers are not getting anything for the exorbitant amount of taxes that are dumped into that swamp to feed the creatures. We need welfare reform, public education reform, and most importantly reform to our government. Impeachment would be another lost cause because it would not change anything and millions of dollars would be wasted.

I’m sorry for expressing such harsh criticism toward our government, but we can never forget those precious children gunned down in Sandy Hook and just too many other places to remember. And now, they are going to teach cursive writing in school! When was that literacy tool lost to a very poor decision? How about just teaching what really matters – reading, writing, and comprehension, math, science and health. These are the tools that made America the world leader in the past. Our youth not only deserves better but must be brought up in a competitive and better environment.

When I read the book, “Dumbing Down America,” it clearly connected the dots as to what we see today in society.
