When I was growing up, whenever the adults got together the conversation inevitably included, “Where were you when you learned Pearl Harbor had been bombed and who told you?”

That changed after 3:35 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 13, 1960.

The conversation thereafter included, “Where were you when you learned the Pirates won the World Series and who told you?”
