A sad day for Israel, the world

The dastardly and savage terrorist attack on Israel and its innocent civilians brings sorrow and anger among decent human beings of all faiths throughout the world.

It brings to mind the following questions and thoughts:

It is particularly heinous to have conducted such savagery on the Jewish Sabbath and the observance on the holy day of Shemini Atzeret.

The outpouring of bedrock support for Israel from President Biden and other prominent elected officials from both sides of the aisle is most gratifying;

How could such a massive coordinated assault have taken place in a country with one of the best intelligence services in the world?

As generally occurs when a nation is at war, the Israeli people will now have no choice but to rally around a corrupt Prime Minister. Benjamin Netanyahu’s efforts to neutralize the Israeli Supreme Court and diminish Israel’s democracy, which triggered multiple massive protests, will fade into the background as Israel fights for her life.

Finally, the evil that Hamas has perpetrated will be shown to be not just to reignite war against Israel, but against Israel’s Palestinians. It will cause Israel to be even less likely to ever allow an autonomous Palestinian state to come to fruition and the carnage that will be suffered by Hamas and innocent Palestinians will be many times what was inflicted on Israel.

It is a sad day for Israel and the world.
