Nothing wrong with humor on overhead signs

I totally agree with Dave Molter’s Monday column regarding the Federal Highway Administration’s request for states to quit posting humorous messages on their electronic overhead signs, saying they are distracting to motorists.

I believe the signs do quite the opposite. They can make you chuckle when sitting in traffic, or they break up the monotony when you are on a long trip in the car.

The FHA should be happy that people are reading them. At least you know that drivers and passengers are looking up and at the road rather than looking down at their phones or the gigantic screens that are in cars today.
