Goodbye to the Ramada

It is with great sadness that I read the recent front page article regarding the decision to close the Ramada by Wyndham hotel in Washington.
It has been a fixture in Washington for many years. I have had the distinct pleasure of attending business meetings there, and hosting anniversary and birthday parties and enjoying the excellent food that was always served. The chef in charge was amazing.
Everyone at the hotel always treated us with dignity, class and respect. Mary Sprowls-Harris, the hotel’s manager, and her late mother, Edith, demonstrated to me what the business world can accomplish. These ladies always treated their clients well, always taking time to do the right thing, all while keeping the business thriving, especially during the COVID-19 shutdown.
Let’s face it, when dealing with the public there are always problems that need to be handled and these wonderful women rose to the occasion and did it with dignity.
