Editorial was dishonest, naive

The March 3 editorial, “Immigrants are a boost to the economy, not a drain,” was the most dishonest and naive pseudo-justification for President Biden’s wanton destruction of the U.S. border, and hence, U.S. sovereignty and our commitment to the rule of law, that I’ve ever seen. Your cherry-picked citations from various academics and government officials can only be perceived as a poorly thought out effort to cast aspersions upon all of us “nativists and xenophobes” and to convince your left-wing base of how superior they are to us neanderthals. Kudos to your proficiency in creating a scarecrow, which you then proceeded to destroy with precision.
But to what end?
As most all of us are descended from immigrants, we do understand and are proud of our heritage, values, and diverse cultures, which our parents and grandparents brought with them and the sacrifices and contributions they made to us, our families, and to our country. But what we have all witnessed from our television sets on a daily basis over the last three years is not immigration. It is a wholesale illegal flooding of our borders with totally unvetted foreigners who we know nothing about.
Draining Third World cesspools and providing them with transportation, living quarters, free education and health care while giving us taxpayers the finger does absolutely nothing to enhance our national security, or positively contribute to our public health concerns or our crime statistics.
Yes, you are correct that some of them will eventually get a job and boost our economy, but the numbers of single men of military age, many from hostile nations, illegally pouring over our borders is quite alarming.
Maybe your perspective will change when they start demanding Washington County provide them living quarters across from the Observer-Reporter building.
