We elect members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate for one reason only – to write and pass legislation to be sent to the president to be signed into law.

If you want a border bill, write one, and don’t load it up with spending for other purposes. You can write as many individual bills as you need to.

For years, unpopular pork has been added to popular bills. There is no reason why the House can’t send single-purpose bills to the Senate. This is how our debt is driven up by millions of dollars.

This is not a Democratic or Republican issue. It’s common sense.
